Athletes compete in Special Olympics bowling event

The Area 7 Bowling Tournament for Special Olympics was held Oct. 9 and 10 in St. Cloud.

Paynesville had 11 athletes competing in the two-day event. Local athletes competing were: Jesse Bahner, Matt Bayer, Alyscia Braun, Yvette Lounsbury, Nathan Martin, Michael Naujokas, Dallas Richardson, Dustin Rudy, Christopher and Michael Sturtz and Erica Wander.

Athletes are divided according to age and skill level in competition. The following ribbons were awarded to each athlete based on their appropriate division:

First place: Matt Bayer and Michael Naujokas.

Second place: Nathan Martin, Yvette Loiunsbury, Alyscia Braun, and Erica Wander.

Third place: Jesse Bahner, Mike Sturtz and Dallas Richardson.

Fourth place: Dustin Rudy and Chris Sturtz.

Athletes are eligible to participate in the state tournament on Nov. 13 and 15 in Brooklyn Center.
