Meagher wins weekly honor again

By Michael Jacobson

Max Meagher, a senior linebacker at Northwestern College, was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) North Division Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Meagher, a 2002 PAHS grad, recorded eight solo tackles, three assisted tackles, 11 total tackles, including one tackle for a loss, one sack, forced one fumble, and had two blocks in the Eagles' 20-19 road win over Martin Luther College on Saturday, Oct. 7. His block of an extra-point attempt in the final minute proved to be the difference in the game.

The Eagles improved to 4-2 after this win and added a 27-7 victory over Crown College on Saturday, Oct. 14, to move to 5-2.

Through six games, Meagher has accrued 56 total tackles this year along with three sacks, five tackles for a loss, one interception, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He led the team in tackles and forced fumbles.

Last year Meagher, the son of Debbie and Mike Meagher of Paynesville, was recognized as a first team All Conference player and as a National Christian College Athletic Association All American.
