Last week the varsity volleyball team found their second conference win of the season against Long Praire-Grey Eagle. They lost to Melrose later in the week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Bulldogs played a good match against the Thunder. They won a close first game 15-13. This got the girls motivated to play even tougher, and they won the second game 15-4. After losing a close third game 15-12, the girls wanted to finish the night off in four games. They did with a score of 15-7.

Sheri Lieser and Stephanie Tangen led the Bulldogs in hitting with six kills each They were followed by Krista Fuchs with five. Stacy Roberg and Michelle Glenz had three aces each. Tanya Lieser, Glenz and Roberg were the top blockers with three or more ace blocks each. Tangen, Sheri Lieser and Roberg played tough defense, scrambling for 23 touches on the ball each. Sara Spanier and Sarah Nelson both had 11 ace assists.

On Thursday, Oct., 10 the Bulldogs traveled to Melrose to take on the Dutchmen. Lack of communication was the biggest problem for the girls, and it reflected in their scores. They lost the first two games 15-3 and 15-5, and needed to pick things up in order to get a win. In the third game the girls started moving their feet and communicating, and things improved, but the Bulldogs couldn't find the win. They lost 15-8.

Glenz, Sheri Lieser, Tanya Lieser, Tangen and Carrie Hemmesch all had two kills and Roberg had one. The Lieser girls had a couple of ace blocks, and Sheri Lieser had two ace serves, along with 29-30 defensive touches on the ball. Serving was great for the Bulldogs with only two missed serves the entire match.

The volleyball team has a break this week with MEA. The next game, at home against Kimball, is the last regular season game for the Bulldogs. This is a very important game, so come and support the team!
