Bulldog netters split against BBE and Litch

courtney and tanya After a short week for the volleyball team, they came out even, losing to Litchfield and defeating Belgrade.

The Bulldogs should have come out with two wins, but it just didnÕt happen that way. They traveled to Belgrade on Monday, Sept. 27 and played to four games instead of the usual five. They lost the first set, but swept the next three to win in four.

The Bulldogs had a little trouble serving, but Steph Krupke led with three ace serves, followed by Jana Zumwalde with two.

Seniors Courtney Karsch and Tanya Lieser combine on a block for the Bulldogs.

This match ended in an upset. The Bulldogs were defeated by a team with a much lower record. All the games were close scores, but the Bulldogs just couldnÕt pull through.

The Bulldogs had beaten the Dragons in Litchfield in the season opener, but last Tuesday night the Dragons got their revenge in Paynesville.

Krupke led the Bulldogs in ace serves with five and assists with 26. There were also a lot of attempts for hits in this game. Tanya Lieser led the team with 25 kills, Carrie Hemmesch followed with 12, and Joy Hemmesch had nine.

The Bulldogs now have a record of 7-3 overall. Hopefully that record will improve with this weekÕs games. The Bulldogs had their Homecoming game yesterday against Sauk Centre and have another game on Thursday against Cathedral.
