The first quarter saw the Bulldogs come out and play some pretty good football while racking up three first downs and holding the Falcons to two. The difference was a blocked punt by the Falcons that resulted in a short touchdown drive to take an 8-0 lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the Bulldogs fall apart as they lost two fumbles and had a two-yard punt. ACGC took advantage of this and scored 22 points in the quarter with three touchdowns and a field goal. This made the score 30-0 at halftime.
The Bulldogs offense could not move the ball in the second quarter and their special teams were giving the Falcons great field position all quarter.
The Bulldogs continued to have trouble holding on to the football in the third quarter, as they lost two more fumbles. In addition, they were stopped on downs twice with less than a foot to go for a first down.
Again the lack of offense and the poor play by the special teams resulted in some great field position for the Falcons and some short touchdown drives. The Falcons scored twice in the third quarter to bring the score to 43-0.
The fourth quarter saw both teams playing a lot of reserves, and ACGC managed one more score before the night was over. This made the final score ACGC 49, Paynesville 0.
David Blom ran for 184 yards and scored four touchdowns for ACGC.
The Bulldogs played a decent first quarter but fell apart the rest of the game.
Hopefully, the Bulldogs (0-2) can get on the winning track against New London-Spicer at home this Friday. NL-S is also 0-2, and have been shut out of both their games this season. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Bulldog Booster Club will be having a tailgate picnic at the field before the game starting at 6 p.m.
