Local golf team takes second

By Michael Jacobson

A four-man team from Koronis Hills Golf Club finished second in the Minnesota Golf Association's Ninth Net Team Championship on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 4-5, in Nisswa.

Randy Beier, Brad Deyak, Steve Fuchs, and Tim Lieser shot a 72-hole total of 251 (37 under par) but finished second by a stroke.

The championship used a unique format, with each foursome splitting into two two-man teams. These two-man teams played best ball with handicap, yielding the foursome two scores on each hole.

The Paynesville foursome shot 123 (21 under par) on Tuesday on the Preserve Golf Course and 128 (16 under par) on Wednesday at the Pines Golf Course.
