By Michael Jacobson

Twenty-one golfers played in a youth tournament at Koronis Hills Golf Course on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Age-group winners included Zach Fuchs and Mitchell Mackedanz of Paynesville.

Fuchs took first in the 8- to 12-year-old age group, which had six entrants, by seven strokes. Fuchs had two pars and seven bogeys for a nine-hole round of 43 on the front nine.

Mackedanz won the 13- to 15-year-old age group, firing a five-over-par round of 76 for 18 holes. Mackedanz started with birdies on three of the first four holes - on #1, #3, and #4 - and shot a two-under-par 34 on the front, with only one bogey. On the back, Mackedanz had five pars on the way to a round of 42, winning the 12-player age group by eight strokes.

In the 16- and 17-year-old age group, Grant Hanson of Alexandria, a former Paynesville resident, defeated two other players with rounds of 39 and 42, totalling 81.

Other Koronis Hills members placing in the tournament were Brent Haagenson, third in the 8-12 age group, and Brian Hendrickson, third in the 13-15 age group.
