By Michael Jacobson

Adam Kampsen, a 2004 PAHS graduate, finished his summer season playing with the Mankato Moondogs in the Northwoods League recently. The league is a place for top college players to compete in minor-league conditions.

The Moondogs ended their season on Saturday, Aug. 12, with a 14-6 win at Eau Claire. Their final game on Sunday, Aug. 13, was cancelled due to rain.

The Moondogs finished their 2006 season with a record of 32-35, but they went 20-13 in the second half, finishing in second place behind the Duluth Huskies (26-8).

Kampsen, who won the batting title in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate College this past spring, hitting .416 for Northern State, played first and third base for the Moondogs.

He hit .209 (36 for 172) and led the Moondogs with 10 doubles.

He ranked third on the team in games played (53); fourth in runs scored (18); fourth in stolen bases (5); sixth in at bats (172); sixth in hits (36); seventh in RBIs (11); seventh in walks (11); and eighth in batting average (.209).
