Rodeo

A two-day rodeo in Regal on Friday and Saturday evenings
attracted over 100 participants and 1,000 spectators to the
County Line Bar's Cornstalk grounds.

The IPRA World Championship Rodeos, run by the Buffington Rodeo Company,
featured seven events both nights: bare back riding, calf roping,
saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping,
and bull riding.

Two local men competed in the rodeo. On Friday night, Kevin Veldkamp
rode a live bull for the first time. He rode it for about half of the
required eight seconds, but was pleased nonetheless. "Do it again," he said
upon leaving the ring. "Do it again."

Mike Strodtman, who has competed in rodeo while in high school
and in college, participated in the steer wrestling on Saturday night.
