New Munich, Norway Lake qualify for state tourney

New Munich won the Region 15C amateur baseball tournament for the second consecutive year, beating New London-Spicer 7-1 and Norway Lake-Sunburg 4-0 on Sunday.

The Silverstreaks hosted the Region 15C tourney this year. They advance to state for the fourth time in the past six years (2000, 2001, 2004, and 2005). Norway Lake-Sunburg advances to state for the fourth time, but it will be their first trip since 1976.

Spring Hill pitcher Rick Lieser is a draftee for New Munich, and Regal pitcher Chris Beier is a draftee for Norway Lake-Sunburg.

Norway Lake-Sunburg will play at Dassel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, and New Munich will play at Dassel at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Class C state baseball tourney.
