Fall sports to start next week

Practices start in August for fall sports at Paynesville Area High School. Junior high sports start either in August or in early September.

Practices for high school cross country, football, and volleyball start on Monday, Aug. 11. Football and volleyball practices start at 8 a.m. that day, in the high school lockerroom for football and in the high school gymnasium for volleyball. Cross country practices - for grades 7-12 - start at 7 p.m. on the high school track.

Football and volleyball practices for grades 7-8 start on the first day of school - Tuesday, Sept. 2. These teams will meet in the lockerrooms in the middle school at 3:15 p.m.

Athletes are reminded by athletics coordinator Kyle Nehowig that they must complete the following three items before their first practice:

(1) Have a physical (dated within the last three years) on record at the school. (This usually affects seventh graders and tenth graders.)

(2) Fill out an eligibility form from the Minnesota State High School League (available at the Community Education/activities office at the high school).

(3) Pay your athletic fee ($75 for grades 9-12 or $55 for grades 7-8).
