Golfers qualify for state in MGA

golf Four golfers from Koronis Hills Golf Club recently qualified for the Junior MGA state tournament. The girls team - from left, Megan Starr (a summer resident of Lake Koronis), Marissa Mackedanz (of Paynesville), and Elizabeth White (a summer resident of Lake Koronis) - took second place at the regional tournament held at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar on Friday, July 16.

Mitchell Mackedanz of Paynesville (below) advanced as an individual. He shot a 79 at the district tournament, placing second. The boys' team came in third at regions, just missing a state berth by one stroke.

mitchell The two-day, 36-hole state competition started on Tuesday, July 27, and continues on Wednesday, July 28, at Rolling Green Golf Course in Hamel, Minn.
