For the second straight year, Paynesville will host the Sixth District Regional American Legion Baseball Tournament. The tournament, which features the Paynesville team as the host squad, will be held at the high school baseball field on Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29.

Paynesville will play Kimball in its first game on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the tournament is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Legion coach Brad Skoglund is hoping for large hometown crowds to cheer on the Paynesville team as they try to return to the state tournament.

Paynesville advanced to state last year and ended up as the state runner-up. This year, they will need to win three games in the single-elimination tournament to earn a repeat trip to state. The state tournament will be held in Truman, south of New Ulm, on Aug. 4 and 5.
