Against Sacred Heart, Paynesville took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the top of the first. Chris Beier singled, Justin Butkofski hit an RBI double, and John Hemingson hit a two-out single to drive home another run.

Sacred Heart scored a run in the bottom of the first, but Paynesville scored single runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings. Alex Naujokas singled and scored in the second, and Ryan Hess singled and scored in both the fourth and the sixth innings. Sam Bayer had an RBI single in the sixth.

Beier pitched five innings for the victory, with Butkofski pitching the final two innings.

Against BOLD, Paynesville scored seven times in the second inning and four more in the third, winning in five innings by the ten-run rule.

In the second, Naujokas started the rally with a one-out single and ended it with a two-run single with two outs. Butkofski added an RBI single in the rally, which was aided by two BOLD errors, and Mike Mueller added an RBI double.

Butkofski added an RBI single in the third inning, as Paynesville scored four more runs.

Jamie Paul pitched a five-inning shutout against BOLD, allowing only two hits.

Prior to the tourney on Saturday, Paynesville went 1-2 last week, beating Sauk Centre 10-1 on Monday, July 5, but losing 5-2 at Cold Spring on Thursday, July 8, and 13-2 at Litchfield on Friday, July 9.

Paynesville is now 6-7 this summer in American Legion.
