Paynesville 6
Kimball 4

Paynesville defeated Kimball 6-4 on Friday night, in Kimball.

Scott Braun started on the mound and got the victory for Paynesville. Braun went five innings and gave up all four Kimball runs. Adam Larson and Doug Fuchs threw relief in the game.

Chad Fleischhacker and Doug Fuchs led Paynesville in hitting as they were each 3-4 in the game. Jon Lieser was also 2-3 in the game.

Paynesville got out to an early three- run lead by scoring three in the top of the second. Kimball came back with one in the bottom of the inning.

Paynesville made the score 4-1, by adding one run in the top of the third.

Kimball pulled within one as they scored two in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 4-3, Paynesville.

That was as close as they would get though, as Paynesville added one in the fifth and one in the seventh to take the 6-4 victory.

St. Joseph 11

Thursday night, in St. Joseph.

Nate Schutz started on the mound for Paynesville and Dustin Looman threw relief in the game.

Shaun Fleischhacker led Paynesville in hitting as he went 3-4. Scott Braun hit a grand slam home run in the game also.

St. Joseph got out to an early lead by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first.

Paynesville came back with one in the top of the second, but fell further behind when St. Joseph added two more in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead.

In the top of the fifth Paynesville scored five runs to take a short-lived lead at 6-5. The inning was highlighted by a three-run double by Looman.

Paynesville quickly fell behind as St. Joseph came back by scoring four runs and regaining the lead in the bottom of the fifth. The score was 9-6, St. Joseph.

St. Joseph then made the score 11-6, when they added two more in the bottom of the sixth.

St. Joseph would need every run they got in the game though as Braun provided the highlight of the entire game with a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh to pull Paynesville within one run.

Paynesville was not able to get the other run across the plate and wound up losing 11-10.

Roscoe 13
Greenwald 3

Roscoe destroyed Greenwald 13-3 on Thursday, in Roscoe.

Eric Kunstleben started for Roscoe and earned the victory.

Brent Heinen came in and threw two and two-thirds innings of relief.

Roscoe was led in hitting by Todd Leyendecker who went 3-4 with a home run. Heinen also had a good night hitting going 2-4 with a double.

Both teams scored runs in the first inning. Greenwald took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second by scoring two runs.

In the bottom of the third things went sour for Greenwald as Roscoe scored four runs in the inning. Heinen and Leyendecker had the only two hits in the inning as Greenwald walked three batters to allow the runs to score and give Roscoe a 5-3 lead.

Leyendecker then hit a solo homer in the fourth to make the score 6-3, Roscoe. Things went from bad to worse for Greenwald as they allowed four runs in the bottom of the sixth, and three more in the bottom of the seventh to lose by a final of 13-3.

Willmar 3
Paynesville 2

Paynesville lost to Willmar 3-2 on Wednesday night, in Paynesville.

Tyler Wuertz pitched for Paynesville and threw the entire game, allowing only three runs, but still was tagged with the loss.

Paynesville did not hit very well in the game to support Wuertz.

Paynesville did get one run in the first and one run in the second to take an early 2-0 lead after the second inning.

Willmar was able to get one run back in the top of the fourth to cut the Paynesville lead to 2-1.

Wuertz threw strong keeping Willmar from scoring again until the seventh.

In the top of the seventh Willmar was able to get a couple more runs to make the score 3-2.

Paynesville was not able to pick up any more runs and wound up losing by the 3-2 final.

Sauk Centre 5

Paynesville defeated Sauk Centre 6-5 on Monday, June 21, in Paynesville.

Nate Schutz started on the mound for Paynesville and was able to get the win going five and one-third innings. Tyler Wuertz threw the last one and two-thirds innings to get the save.

Jon Lieser led Paynesville at the plate as he was 1-3 with a grand slam home run. His was the first of two grand slams on the week for Paynesville. Shaun Fleischhacker also had a big double in the game.

After the busy week Paynesville had a game Monday night. The complete results of that game will be in next week's Press.
