Fishing contest attracts anglers

The Paynesville Sportsmen's Club is sponsoring a fishing tournament on Tuesday nights throughout the summer on Rice Lake and Lake Koronis.

In the latest contest, 19 teams were entered in the June 19 competition on Lake Koronis. The next tournament dates are July 10 and Aug. 7 on Rice Lake and July 31 and Aug. 12 on Lake Koronis.

June 19
Lake Koronis (19 teams)

First place
Pat Karger, Paynesville, and Jeff Isenberg, Richmond, six fish,total weight of 18.5.
They also had the biggest catch of the night, a 6-pound walleye.

Second place
Al Boie and Larry Hesse,Paynesville, two northern, 8.5 pounds.

Third place
Dave and Dan Legatt, Paynesville, four fish, 7.4 pounds total

June 5
Rice Lake (14 teams)

First place
Cory and Jeremy Deadrick, Paynesville, six fish, 19.1 pounds

Second place
Don and Dave Liestman, Paynesville, six fish, 13.2 pounds

Third place
Duane Fischbach, Rockville, and Rick Rothstein, Richmond, five fish, 12.8 pounds

May 29
Lake Koronis (23 teams)

First place
Dave Heitke and John Liestman, Paynesville,three fish, 6.8 pounds.

Second place
Paul Deadrick, Paynesville, and Dave Vig, Sartell, three fish, 4.8 pounds

Third place
Ron and Dawn Iverson, Paynesville, two fish, 4.5 pounds

May 15
Rice Lake (24 teams)

First place
Pat and Lynn Lemke, Richmond,15 pounds; biggest catch, 6.3 pounds

Second place
Eric Nierenhausen and Jeremy Cuman, Richmond, six fish, 12.2 pounds

Third place
Doug Schmiginsky, Paynesville, and Kip Wendlandt, Lake Henry, four fish, 7.9 pounds
