Lady Bulldogs place second in tournament

The Paynesville girl's basketball team traveled to Kerkhoven on June 19 for a Pacesetter tournament. There were seven teams vying for the title.

Paynesville coasted to a 47-30 win in their opening game versus Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg. Stacy Lieser paced the Bulldogs as she nailed five three-pointers in route to a game high 17 points. Steph Krupke tallied eight points. Carin Frenchick and Carrie Hemmesch each poured in six points. Tanya Lieser finished with three blocks.

Paynesville bolted to a 21-7 lead against MACCRAY in round two of the tournament. Outside shooting ignited the Bulldogs as they made four three-pointers in the first half. Stacy Lieser finished as high scorer again as she netted 15 points.

The Liesers', Stacy and Tanya, scored all six of the three-pointers. Tanya finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Frenchick grabbed nine rebounds. Paynesville won 33-24.

Paynesville battled Minneota in the championship game. The offense was much less potent as the Bulldogs posted only 17 points. Stacy Lieser once again led the Bulldogs as she scored seven points. Frenchick contributed five points and 11 rebounds.
