Mary Frandson qualifies for state golf meet

Frandson Mary Frandson (pictured right), Lynn Stoneburner, and Ryan Wall played at the section golf meet hosted by the Rich Spring Golf Course in Cold Spring on Tuesday, June 1. A strong breeze and consistent rain created terrible conditions.

The top team plus five individuals advance from section play to the state tournament.

The weather did not stop senior Mary Frandson from shooting well enough to advance to the state tournament. With a score of 90 (45-45), Frandson was the fifth individual qualifier.

The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters finished with a team total of 373 to qualify their team for state. Milaca, with a score of 388, was second.

The boys team finishing first was New London-Spicer with a team total of 322. They were followed closely by St. Cloud Cathedral with 323.

Individual results from the section meet found Keely Dolan of Dassel-Cokato on top with a score of 81. She was followed by Nikki Danielson of Cathedral, 82; Natalie Rinn of St. John's Prep, 83; Jackie Beste of Sauk Centre and Alana Reetz of Milaca, 87.

Stoneburner finished with a 98 (46-52) for the section meet.

Ryan Wall was unable to finish due to illness. This was unfortunate for Wall, because he was having a nice round.

Playing at the section level was a great experience for these three PAHS golfers. Paynesville hopes to advance more golfers next season.
