Junior Legion baseball team goes 1-2 at Benson Tournament

The Paynesville Junior Legion baseball team went 1-2 at the Benson Tournament over the weekend.

In the first game the team faced Madison and won 9-8.

Jon Lieser got the win for Paynesville. Ryan Schneider and Nick Stalboerger led Paynesville in hitting. They both went 2-4 in the game.

In the second game Paynesville lost to Alexandria, 9-5. Wes Lieser and John Lieser each had two hits in the game.

In the final game a very young Paynesville team was defeated 15-8 by Benson. The team had three seventh graders playing in the outfield.

Wes Lieser pitched four strong innings for the team.

Lieser, Jeremy Fuchs, and Adam Winter each had two hits in the game. Tyler Kochman and Joe Lingl each had one hit and a pair of RBIs.

The Junior Legion team will play at home Saturday at 9:15 against Sauk Centre, in the Paynesville Tournament. Then they will face Litchfield and Albany in the tournament.
