The Bulldogs baseball team wrapped up their season this last week. The team was defeated by Melrose in the second round of the sub-section tournament on Tuesday, May 25.

"I would have liked to have gone a little further in the playoffs, but overall I was pleased with the season," said coach Brad Skoglund.

The team had four players get All-Conference honors. They were Ben Bork, Dustin Looman, Tyler Wuertz, and Brent Heinen. Doug Fuchs earned All-Conference Honorable Mention.

The Bulldogs were able to turn their season around after starting out the season at 1-4. The team was able to turn things around to get back to a 12-8 record.

Paynesville finished the season unbeaten out of the West Central Conference North, at 7-0.

"We are going to miss the seniors, they did a great job, and will be missed," said Skoglund.

Skoglund added that even though the team lost to Melrose in Cold Spring, he was very happy with the way they were able to battle back and get a chance to win the game after being down 8-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Paynesville has two players that plan to play college baseball. Heinen will attend Southwest State University in Marshall where he will play. Dustin Looman is attending Rochester Community College where he will play baseball and football.
