Golfers end spring season with awards

By Michael Jacobson

The Bulldogs boys' and girls' golf teams wrapped up their spring season last week with the presentation of team awards.

Three golfers were recognized in the 40-round club. Senior Eric Gerding, junior Heather Fuchs, and sophomore Mitchell Mackedanz each golfed more than 40 rounds in the offseason.

Fuchs was named the girls' MVP, and Mackedanz was named the boys' MVP. Both earned All Conference honors, as well, as did ninth grader Amber Jensen. Fuchs finished third among girls in the West Central Conference North, and Jensen finished seventh.

Mackedanz was tenth among the boys in the WCC North.

Coach Todd Knudsvig said he was encouraged by the number of boys and girls who are planning to play lots of golf this summer, since this is when real improvement can be made. He hopes lots of players will qualify for the 40-round club next year.
