Anglers to compete on Koronis

By Michael Jacobson

Women Anglers of Minnesota will hold their 29th annual fishing tournament - expected to have a field of 150 participants - on Lake Koronis on Saturday, June 3.

Women Anglers of Minnesota is a nonprofit organization aimed to promote fishing for women and children. Funds raised from their annual tournament go to support fishing clinics for kids, educational seminars for women, and the donation of 500 rods and reels to kids each year.

The tournament headquarters for 2006 and 2007 will be Bug-Bee Hive Resort on Lake Koronis. (Women Anglers of Minnesota are scheduled to hold their 30th annual fishing tournament on Saturday, June 2, 2007.)

The field for the catch-and-release tourney this summer is 150. Since the tournament is individual - with a grand prize of $2,000 for the largest-point fish - boats will have two or more women. Women must be 16 years of age to participate in the tourney.
