Kampsen wins NSIC batting title

Adam Kampsen, a 2004 PAHS graduate, won the batting title in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) this spring, hitting .416 in 47 games for the Northern St. Wolves.

Adam Kampsen Kampsen, the son of Liza Kampsen of Paynesville, led the Wolves with 12 homers, 41 RBIs, 13 doubles, 115 total bases, 17 bases on balls, and 35 runs scored. He had a slugging percentage of .747, an on-base percentage of .477, and was 9/9 in stolen base attempts.

Kampsen's batting average was the 45th highest in the nation in Division II. He had 64 hits in 154 at bats for the Wolves, who finished their season with a record of 11-36, including 2-16 in the NSIC.

He was named to the first-team All Conference in the NSIC for Northern St. (located in Aberdeen, S.D.). He was also named to the NSIC spring All Academic team, which requires a GPA of 3.20 or better.

This summer, Kampsen has signed to play with the Mankato Moondogs in the Northwoods League. The Moondogs open their season on Thursday, June 1, in Waterloo, Iowa.

Other teams in the 12-team Northwoods League are: Alexandria Beetles, Brainerd Blue Thunder, Duluth Huskies, Eau Claire Express, Madison Mallards, LaCrosse Loggers, Rochester Honkers, St. Cloud River Bats, Thunder Bay Border Cats, and Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The Moondogs will play games in St. Cloud on Monday, June 12; Thursday, July 6; Monday, July 10; Saturday, July 22; Thursday, Aug. 10; and Friday, Aug. 11. They will play games at Alexandria on Sunday, July 16; Monday, July 17; Monday, July 24; and Tuesday, July 25. Their full schedule is available at www.mankatomoondoogs.com.
