Dan Starken Mike Beier pitched eight innings for Regal, allowing only one run on a solo home run, as Eagles beat the Paynesville Pirates 5-1 in a County Line League game Sunday in Paynesville.

The Eagles broke a scoreless pitcher's dual between Beier and Dan Starken (pictured at left) of the Pirates with three runs in the third and two in the seventh.

Brad Lieser hit a two-run homer for Regal. Aaron Bayer hit a solo homer for Paynesville.

The Lake Henry Lakers scored two runs in the top of the eighth to beat St. Martin Sunday in a Stearns County League game. Roger Wuertz drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly for the Lakers.

The contest was a pitcher's dual between the Martins' Sam Rothstein and the Lakers' Mike Stalboerger. Rothstein threw a complete game for St. Martin, and Stalboerger got the win with eight innings of relief work for Lake Henry.

Chad Spanier, Jeff Olmscheid, and Doug Fuchs had two hits a apiece for Lake Henry. Olmscheid opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second.

The Lakers are now 3-3 in league.

The Rangers built a 9-5 lead, but lost a Stearns County League game to Meire Grove on Monday when Meire Grove scored six times in the bottom of the ninth. After tying the score on an outfield error by Roscoe, Meire Grove's Mike Wehlage hit a three-run homer to win the game.

The Rangers had 18 hits, but scored all their runs on home runs. They hit four total. Tony Orbeck hit a three-run shot in the first. Randy Rothstein hit a two-run blast in the fourth, and Lee Schleper added another three-run shot in the fourth. Mark Winter hit a solo homer in the fifth for the Rangers' last run.

Roscoe is now 2-4 in league this year.

St. Martin used a ten-run fourth inning to win their first league game of the season. Luke Rothstein had the biggest blow in the rally, a three-run homer.

The Martins beat Spring Hill on Monday 19-7.

The Martins had 17 hits and five home runs in the victory. Rothstein hit two homers, and Carlton Hennen, Carl Lieser, and Ken Arceneau added blasts for St. Martin.

St. Martin is now 1-5 in league.

The Flames jumped ahead early and pounded the Rangers' pitching staff for 16 hits to win a league game 11-7 at Roscoe on Sunday.

The Rangers hit three home runs, including two by Mark Winter, but had just six hits total. A majority of the Rangers' runs scored on Winter's grand slam in the sixth inning. He added a solo shot in the eighth, and Tony Orbeck hit a solo homer in the seventh.

Farming had only one home run, a two-run blast by Aaron Nett to take the lead in the first inning. The Flames scored four unearned runs in the third.

The Lakers took a 6-5 lead after three innings in Elrosa Friday, but couldn't score again. Elrosa rallied with two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to win the league game 12-6.

The Lakers committed nine errors in the loss.

Mike Stalboerger and Ryan Wuertz hit homers for Lake Henry. Pat Jaeger hit one for Elrosa against his old teammates.
