Dogs end season at subsections

By Michael Jacobson

The Bulldogs boys' golf team ended their season at the subsection meet in Becker on Wednesday, May 22. The Dogs took tenth out of 14 teams and failed to have anyone advance to sections.

Senior Nathan Glenz just missed qualifying for the section meet for the second consecutive year. He shot a 45 on the first nine and 41 on the second for an 86 to lead the team, but he missed the section cutoff by two strokes.

The top two teams and the top ten individuals, not counting the two teams, qualify for sections. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa finished 1-2 in the team competition.

LPGE is a conference foe of the Bulldogs, and the West Central Conference North dominated the meet, with three teams in the top five, five in the top eight, and six in the top ten.

Other scores for Paynesville were ninth grader Mitchell Mackedanz with a 92, junior Justin Hartfiel with a 94, and junior Eric Gerding with a 99.
