Lakers retire Lynn Hemmesch's jersey

Retiring Lynn Hemmesch's jersey The Lake Henry Lakers retired the first jersey in team history on Sunday afternoon, dedicating #6 to longtime player and former manager Lynn Hemmesch.

Randy and Nick Hemmesch - Lynn's brother and nephew - unveil the sign retiring Lynn Hmmesch's number in leftfield in Lake Henry on Sunday afternoon.

Hemmesch, a standout lefthanded pitcher, was a star for PHS and played amateur baseball for more than two decades, mostly for Lake Henry but also for Regal.

Nephew Nick Hemmesch throws out the first pitch Hemmesch died in a farm accident in August 2002. His #6 jersey was worn competitively for the last time last year by Lake Henry catcher Jon Lieser, who played at state as a draftee.

Nick Hemmesch - Lynn's nephew - threw out the first pitch Sunday.
