Boy tracksters place second in sub-section

Track The Paynesville Bulldog boys' track team traveled to New London last Thursday afternoon for the sub-section 20A track meet.

The team did awesome and performed well across the board. Paynesville placed second and received the second place trophy.

In all there were ten Paynesville competitors that advanced to the section meet, which will be held in Melrose, tomorrow, May 27.

In order to advance to sections the athletes had to finish in the top four for individual events and in the top two for relays.

Jeff Voss advanced in both hurdle races, the pole vault, and was a member of the winning 1,600-meter relay team.

Josh Bork advanced in the discus.

Steve Flint, left, earned first place and threw a personal best of 45'2" in the shot put.

Troy Wendlandt hopped his way to third place in the 110-meter high hurdles. He also placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Luke Trees was a member of the 1,600-meter relay team and also won the high jump with a jump of 6'3". He nearly cleared 6'5", but just missed.

Freshman Nic Glenz placed third in the pole vault at 10'6".

Clayton Lang was runner-up in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter run.

Adam Utsch placed third in the 3,200-meter run and also advanced.

Eric Rausch placed second in the 400-meter dash and was also a member of the 1,600-meter relay team.

Josh Jones won the triple jump, advanced in the long jump, and was a member of the 1,600-meter relay team.

Paynesville's 1,600-meter relay team of Jeff Voss, Luke Trees, Eric Rausch, and Josh Jones ran their personal best time on Thursday, which was 3:29.51. This was a sub-section 20A record as well as a Paynesville Area High School record.

Great job to the whole Bulldogs' track team.
