Regal bounced back from Saturday's loss to St. Martin and handily won over Paynesville on Sunday in Regal by the score of 15-1 in seven innings.

Paynesville started the scoring in the first inning with two outs when Dan Starken was hit by a pitch. He moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by Chris Stanley. Scott Morris followed with a single, but no more hitting or scoring was done by the Pirates in the game. Only two more Paynesville players reached base and both were on errors.

Regal scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the first inning with 10. The hitting in the first inning was highlighted by a grand slam home run by Mike Beier, one of three homers for him in the game, followed by solo home runs by Tim Haines and Ron Fuchs. Beier had a solo home run in the fifth inning and a two-run home run in the sixth. Beier had a total of eight RBIs. Beier started and got the win for Regal and Wade VonEschen pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

For Paynesville Dave Hemmesch started and took the loss for Paynesville and Jason Schlecht relieved in the first and finished the game.

Regal will host Watkins, on Saturday, May 29, at 2 p.m. On Sunday, May 30, Regal will host Melrose for a 1:30 p.m. game.

Roscoe defeated Meire Grove 4-3 on Sunday in Roscoe.

Greg Heinen started and went five innings for the Rangers. He allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out five in his five innings of work. Tony Orbeck threw the last four innings, earning the victory for the Rangers. Orbeck gave up one run on six hits while striking out four out of the bullpen.

Rick Mackedanz led Roscoe in hitting. Mackedanz was 3-4. Todd Leyendecker helped out going 2-4.

Meire Grove scored first, getting one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

Roscoe came back with three in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead 3-2. It all started when Greg Heinen walked, which was followed by singles by Lee Schleper and Leyendecker to load the bases. Jeff Welle then hit a sacrifice fly to score Heinen. After a single by Mackedanz to reload the bases, Mark Winter doubled and scored Schleper and Leyendecker.

Roscoe would add an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh to make the game 4-2. Brent Heinen led off the inning by reaching base on an error, then stole second. After Orbeck singled that put runners at the corners. The Rangers were able to get a run on a double steal by Orbeck stole second, and Brent Heinen scored on the throw to second.

Roscoe will travel to Elrosa to play them on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. Roscoe will then play host to New Munich in Roscoe on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Lake Henry 13

Lake Henry defeated Elrosa 13-9 on Sunday, in Lake Henry.

Roger Wuertz started for the Lakers then Mike Stalboerger came in to relieve Wuertz in the seventh inning.

Ryan Wuertz had a huge game as he went 4-4 with four home runs and seven RBIs. Mark Spanier also had a homer for the Lakers. Elrosa had three home runs of their own, including two by former Lake Henry catcher Pat Jaeger.

Other leading hitters in the game for Lake Henry were Tim Lieser 3-5, Chad Spanier 2-4, Stalboerger 2-4, and Roger Wuertz 2-3.

Lake Henry has two league games this week. They will face Spring Hill on May 29 at 1:30 p.m., and they will travel to Greenwald on Sunday. That game is at 1:30 p.m.

Regal defeated Sauk Rapids in an exhibition game Friday night by a score of 22-7 in seven innings.

Regal scored in only three innings, nine runs each in the second and fifth and four runs in the fourth.

In the second inning Regal scored nine runs on seven hits and two walks. Ron Fuchs had a two-run double, Brad Lieser had a two-run single and Wade VonEschen hit a two-run home run. This was VonEschen's second hit of the inning.

Regal plated four runs in the fourth inning on a single, a walk, a double, and two errors. VonEschen got his third hit of the game in the inning.

In the fifth inning Regal started off with a walk to Aaron Schultz, followed by a two-run home run by Jeff Deming. Wade Thonvold followed with a solo home run. After a walk and an error Tyler Wuertz hit a three-run home run. Dustin Looman then walked and Tim Haines hit a two-run home run. After an out Deming hit his second home run of the inning.

Jeremy Glenz went the distance for the win for Regal.

Roscoe defeated Paynesville 4-3, in Paynesville on Wednesday night.

David Hemmesch started for the Pirates. Dan Starken, Jeremy Reiter, and Jason Schlecht threw relief for Paynesville. Schlecht earned the loss without giving up a hit in the final two innings of work.

Tony Orbeck and Greg Heinen pitched for Roscoe. Heinen earned the win for the Rangers.

Scott Morris and Darren Michaelis led the hitting for Paynesville. Morris was 2-3, and Michaelis was 2-5.

Roscoe was led at the plate by Lee Schleper 2-4, and Chris VanderBeek 1-4 with a home run.

Paynesville was able to get on the board first scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead.

Roscoe was able to get one back in the top of the second but still trailed the Pirates by a score of 2-1.

Neither team scored until the Rangers were able to tie the game in the fifth, getting a run off Starken.

Roscoe was then able to take the lead in the top of the seventh when Chris VanderBeek hit a solo home run to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead.

Paynesville came back in the bottom of the eighth. With two outs Paynesville was able to tie the game when Heinen walked Chris Soine to bring a run in to tie the score at three.

Roscoe scored in the ninth though. Schlecht walked Kenny Winter. VanderBeek came in to run for Winter, and ended up scoring on a wild pitch.

Down by one the Pirates had a chance to tie the game with the bases loaded and two out in the ninth, but Chris Stanley grounded into a fielder's choice to end the game, with Roscoe winning 4-3.

Paynesville will play Monticello on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. They will face New London on Sunday night at 7:30.

St. Martin 8

Regal lost in exhibition to St. Martin in Regal on Saturday by the score of 8-3.

Regal was held to only four hits in the game while the Martins had twelve hits, including four home runs. Jeff Schmitt and Joe Winter each had three hits for St. Martin. Jim Arceneau, Sam Rothstein, Luke Rothstein, and Carl Lieser all had home runs.

Dave Oehrlein pitched the whole game for Regal and took the loss even though he struck out 18 St. Martin batters. Sam Rothstein threw five innings for the win and Luke Rothstein threw four innings for the save.
