Wrestler earns national honor

By Michael Jacobson

David Kerzman, the first two-time state champion in Paynesville wrestling history, has been named honorable mention All American by USA Wrestling Magazine.

Kerzman wrapped up his Bulldog wrestling career this winter with a second straight state title. He also took fourth at state as a ninth grader.

He also wrestled on four state tournament teams and helped the Bulldogs to the 2000 Class A state championship.

He ended as the Bulldogs' career leader in 13 categories, including wins (178), pins, takedowns, and winning percentage.

Following the completion of the Bulldogs' season, Kerzman wrestled in the Minnesota-Wisconsin All Star Series, the Dapper Dan Classic against top wrestlers from western Pennsylvania, and a national invitational tournament in Delaware.

USA Wrestling Magazine released its All American team in its May 15 edition.
