Girls finish fourth in WCC

Sally Heitke The Bulldogs girls' golf team finished fourth in their last conference meet at Melrose last week and took fourth in the season standings.

The Bulldogs - paced by rounds of 48 from senior Maria Janotta and eighth grader Amber Jensen, who tied for sixth - scored 200 to take fourth in the last West Central Conference North meet of the season on Monday, May 13. The Bulldogs trailed Sauk Centre (193), Litchfield (195), and Albany (199).

Albany won the season title with 45 cumulative points from the seven conference meets. Litch was second with 41, Albany was third with 38, and the Dogs were fourth with 29.

Sophomore Heather Fuchs shot a 51 for the Dogs, and senior Sally Heitke (pictured at left) shot 53 to complete the team scoring.

Heitke earned All Conference honors for her play during the year.

The girls played in the subsection golf meet on Tuesday, May 21, at Becker. If the team or individuals qualify, the section meet will be held next Tuesday, May 28, at 1 p.m. at Rich-Spring Golf Course.
