St. Martin sweeps two weekend games

The St. Martin Martins swept two Stearns County League games over the weekend and improved their league record to 3-1. The Martins beat Farming 7-2 on the road on Saturday and beat Richmond 3-2 on Sunday in St. Martin.

Against Farming, the Martins took the early lead and never trailed. Luke Rothstein homered and pitched six innings to earn the victory for St. Martin.

Against Richmond, Jesse Thielen hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give St. Martin the lead for good and three pitchers held the Royals to two runs. Nathan Schlangen earned the pitching victory with four innings of relief, and Ken Arceneau got a save.

This week, the Martins host Avon on Wednesday evening, play at Lake Henry on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., and host Elrosa on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Lake Henry splits
The Lake Henry Lakers split two league games over the weekend, beating Richmond 12-2 on Saturday and suffering their first league loss 5-4 to Spring Hill on Sunday.

Against Richmond, the Lakers broke a 2-2 by scoring ten runs in the top of the ninth, highlighted by a three-run homer by Doug Fuchs. Jeff Schmitz hit a two-run homer for the Lakers in the first inning.

Against Spring Hill, the Chargers built a 5-0 lead, and the Lakers did not score until the final two innings. Josh Kampsen hit a two-run double in the eighth inning, and Pat Mohs hit a two-run double in the ninth.

This week, the Lakers will play at Cold Spring on Wednesday and will host St. Martin on Saturday and Greenwald on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Darrin Ogdahl threw a no-hitter over seven innings for New London-Spicer on Sunday. The Pirates, now 1-1 in the Cornbelt League, beat Greenwald on Friday. This week, the Pirates host Willmar at 8:15 p.m. on Friday night and play at Regal on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Farming 10, Roscoe 2
Farming led 10-0 before Roscoe scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Jeff VanderBeek and Brent Heinen doubled and scored for the Rangers, who fell to 0-3 in league.

Roscoe will play at Richmond on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and will host Meire Grove on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
