Lake Henry beats Spring Hill in 12 innings

The Lake Henry Lakers stayed unbeaten in the Stearns County League with a 12-inning 6-5 victory over Spring Hill on Sunday in Lake Henry.

With the bases loaded in the 12th inning, Ryan Wuertz beat the throw home on a grounder by Doug Fuchs to score the winning run. Fuchs earned the pitching victory with five scoreless innings of relief.

Lake Henry (4-0 in league, 7-1 overall) scored their first five runs on homers. Wuertz hit a solo shot in the first inning, Fuchs and Adam Kampsen hit back-to-back homers in the second inning, and Jeff Schmitz hit a two-run blast to tie the score at 5-5 in the sixth inning.

The teams played five scoreless innnings before the Lakers won the game in the bottom of the 12th.

This week, the Lakers will play at Eden Valley on Wednesday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m.; they will play at Dassel on Friday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m.; and they will play at St. Martin on Sunday, May 23, at 1:30 p.m.

Richmond 8, St. Martin 7
St. Martin suffered their first league loss on Sunday, falling 8-7 in ten innings in Richmond. The Royals moved into a second-place tie with St. Martin with the victory. Both teams are now 3-1 in league.

Jeron Lieser singled home the winning ru\n for Richmond in the tenth inning with the bases loaded.

St. Martin had taken a 5-3 lead, getting a solo homer from Sam Rothstein in the third inning and a two-run double by Luke Rothstein in the sixth inning.

But Richmond scored five runs on five hits in the seventh inning to take a 7-5 lead. St. Martin scored two runs in the eighth inning to tie, but Richmond won the game in the bottom of the tenth.

This week, St. Martin will host St. Augusta on Friday at 6:15 p.m., and they will host Lake Henry on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Farming 5, Roscoe 1
Farming kept Roscoe winless with a 5-1 victory on Sunday.

The Flames scored five runs in the first inning to beat the Rangers in Farming, getting RBI hits from Corey Mergen, Chris Wehseler, Dennis Merger, and Jeremy Theis. Dennis Merger hit a two-run single for Farming.

Roscoe (0-4 in league, 0-5 overall) did not score until the eighth inning, when Mike Heinen singled with two outs to drive home Chris VanderBeek, who had been hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch.

This week, the Rangers will host Upsala on Friday at 6:15 p.m. They will host Richmond on Sunday in Roscoe at 1:30 p.m.

NL-S 5, Regal 2
Jason Roepke of Norway Lake-Sunburg allowed only one hit in seven innings as NL-S beat Regal 5-2 in Sunburg on Sunday.

Roepke struck out 11 in earning the pitching victory. The only hit he allowed was a bunt single to Regal's Ryan Schneider.

James Cortez led off the game with a homer for NL-S, and Chad Searcy added a two-run homer, which led 5-0 before Regal scored two runs in the eighth inning, using three walks to score two runs.

This week, Regal (1-2) will host Greenwald on Friday at 6 p.m., and Regal will host Sacred Heart on Sunday, though the time for this game has not been determined yet.
