Lake Henry shuts out Roscoe

By Michael Jacobson

Adam Kampsen pitched seven shutout innings, and the Lake Henry Lakers kept the Roscoe Rangers winless in the Stearns County League with a 7-0 victory on Sunday afternoon in Lake Henry.

Due to a shortage of umpires - because of the fishing opener and Mother's Day - the game did not start until 4 p.m.

The Lakers jumped ahead in the first inning with a leadoff double by Jon Lieser followed by an RBI single by Josh Kampsen, who later scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Rangers threw out runners at the plate in the second inning and again in the third, but the Lakers' Pat Mohs drew a bases-loaded walk to score a run later in the third.

Mike Stalboerger hit a solo homerun for the Lakers in the fifth inning, making the score 4-0, and the Lakers added three runs in the sixth inning, including an RBI single by Ryan Wuertz and another bases-loaded walk by Mohs.

Adam Kampsen pitched four innings of no-hit ball before the Rangers got two infield singles off him in the fifth inning. He threw seven shutout innings for the win.

The Rangers have yet to score a run in their three league losses.

The Lakers (2-1 in league, 2-2 overall) will host New Munich on Sunday, May 21, at 1:30 p.m.

Roscoe (0-3 in league, 1-4 overall) will host Richmond on Sunday also at 1:30 p.m.
