Farming rallies past Roscoe in ninth, 13-12

Chris VanderBeek Farming rallied to win this Stearns County League game 13-12 with five runs in the top of the ninth.

Roscoe scored six runs in the seventh inning to take an 11-6 lead in a seesaw game that had seven lead changes. After scoring a run on Tony Orbeck"s single to tie the game at six, Todd Leyendecker - who had four hits and five RBIs - added a two run-double.

Chris VanderBeek slides into third with a triple to start Roscoe's six-run seventh inning against Farming.

Brent Heinen hit a three-run homer to left center over the sign marking his father"s recently retired Ranger number.

Orbeck also hit a two-run homer to left in the fifth inning over the #15 on the fence.

After scoring two in the eighth, Farming tied the score on Greg Holthaus" three-run homer to left in the top of the ninth. Chris Wehseler hit a two-run double for the winning runs.

The Rangers scored one run in the bottom of the ninth, but left the tying and winning runs on base.

Farming pitchers struck out 17 Rangers, while the Ranger pitchers hit seven Farming batters.

A six-run first inning propelled the Lakers to a 12-8 win at Richmond on Sunday.

Jeff Schmitz continued his hot start for the Lakers with a two-run homer in the first inning, and Doug Fuchs added a three-run shot.

Jon Lieser led the Lakers with four hits. Fuchs, Schmitz, and Roger Wuertz had three hits apiece to pace the Lakers" 19-hit attack.

Ryan Wuertz added two hits, including a homer, and three RBI.

For Richmond, Jon Dold hit three homers and drove in five runs.

The Lakers continued on their postseason success of last year, when they beat Richmond twice in advancing to the state tournament. The Lakers are now 2-0 in the league for the season.

St. Martin scored ten runs in the first six innings and defeated Greenwald Sunday 10-5.

Jesse Thielen hit a two-run homer in the third and another in the fifth for the Martins, who hit four homers. Sam Rothstein and Nathan Schlangen added solo shots.

Tony Frieler hit two solo homers for Greenwald and Chuck Athman added another.

The Martins scored all their runs off James Burg, a former teammate now playing for Greenwald.

Chad Rothstein picked up the victory for St. Martin, and Sam and Luke Rothstein closed out the game.

Brad Lieser Regal built a 7-2 lead through six innings but needed two runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat Norway Lake-Sunburg 9-8 on Sunday.

Brad Lieser slides home with a run for the Regal Eagles on Sunday.

Regal had 15 hits, led by Wade Von Eschen, who had five hits and four RBIs. Brad Lieser continued his strong start with four hits and two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Nathan Winter allowed only one hit and two runs in five innings of work.

The Sauk Centre Titans put together a ten-run fifth inning and shut out the Paynesville Pirates 12-0 in seven innings on Sunday in Sauk Centre.

Sauk Centre took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second innings, then exploded for 10 runs in the fifth.

The Pirates had eight hits, and benefited from four Titan errors, but could not score.

Rob Mettenberg pitched six shutout innings for Sauk Centre.
