Lakers, Martins stay unbeaten in league

St. Martin 6, Roscoe 1 Three pitchers hurled a one-hitter for St. Martin, who stayed unbeaten in the Stearns County League with a 6-1 victory at Roscoe on Sunday.

Ken Arceneau threw five innings, yielding only one run on one hit. Nathan Schlangen and Luke Rothstein pitched four innings of hitless relief for St. Martin.

St. Martin built a 3-0 lead before Russ Leyendecker singled and scored in the third inning for Roscoe, collecting their only hit and scoring their only run.

St. Martin responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. They finished the scoring with a run in the sixth inning.

Rothstein led the Martins' offense with three hits and two RBIs.

Roscoe (0-3 overall and 0-2 in league) also lost an exhibition game to St. Stephen on Saturday 6-1. The only highlight for Roscoe was R.J. Leyendecker doubling and scoring on Mike Heinen's triple in the ninth inning for Roscoe's lone run.

Next Sunday, Roscoe plays at Meire Grove, and St. Martin hosts Farming, both starting at 1:30 p.m.

Lake Henry 8, Farming 6
Farming fumbled in the ninth inning, and Adam Kampsen made them pay in the tenth. Kampsen hit a game-winning two-run homer in the tenth inning to give Lake Henry an 8-6 extra inning win at Farming.

Doug Fuchs singled with one out in the tenth inning, and Kampsen followed with a two-run homer.

Farming led 6-3 heading into the ninth inning but committed three errors in the top of the ninth as the Lakers scored three runs on only one hit to tie the score.

Lake Henry (4-1 overall, 2-0 in the Stearns County League) scored three runs in the third inning to take the early lead. Fuchs doubled in the inning, and Mike Stalboerger hit an RBI single.

Fuchs and Stalboerger also pitched for Lake Henry, with Fuchs earning the victory.

This week, Lake Henry hosts St. Stephen in an exhibition game on Saturday and hosts Richmond on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Regal 5, NL-S 3
Regal opened this season in the Cornbelt League with a 5-3 road victory at New London-Spicer on Sunday.

Regal scored a run in each of the first five innings, building a 5-2 lead. A.J. Hadley doubled and scored on Chris Rohe's single in the first; Josh Eckstein tripled to lead off the second and scored on Brandon Berg's single; Mike Mueller delivered an RBI single in the third; Chris Beier tripled to lead off the third inning and scored on another single by Berg; and Greg Hadley doubled to start the fifth, producing another run for Regal.

NL-S, meanwhile, stranded 15 baserunners. Regal pitchers allowed only three runs and six hits, but they walked 11 batters. Regal only had one 1-2-3 inning.

But Regal pitchers got key outs with runners on base, including striking out NL-S batters to end the second inning with two runners on base, to end the fifth inning with two runners on base, and to end the game with the bases loaded.

Next Sunday, Regal will host Paynesville at 1:30 p.m.

Paynesville lost their Cornbelt League opener 9-0 to Norway Lake-Sunburg on Sunday at Norway Lake.

The Lakers held the Pirates to only two hits, a single by Adam Hemmesch in the sixth inning and a single by Josh Williams in the ninth inning.

Norway Lake-Sunburg led 2-0 for most of the game before scoring seven runs in their last three at bats.

Next Sunday, Paynesville will play at Regal at 1:30 p.m.
