The Paynesville softball team was busy with four games last week, all of which ended in defeat.

The team's best effort was on Friday, when they hosted Litchfield, a conference favorite with senior pitcher Carin Rambow.

The contest was tied 1-1 after the first inning, and the Dragons brought in two runs in the second to lead 3-1.

The score remained like that until the Dragons scored another run in the fifth inning. Paynesville scored a run in the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough to win the game.

Kelly Loesch pitched a great game for Paynesville. She had six strike outs and only gave up four earned runs.

The Dragons' pitching, led by four innings from Rambow, limited the Bulldogs to three hits. Crystal Humbert, Laurie Barten, and Jenny Habben each had a hit for the Bulldogs.

Tiff Haag and Lisa Hemingson scored a run apiece for the Bulldogs.

Coach Tim Woehler said, "If we can play like this every game, we're going to start winning. The girls just have to expect to win and want it bad enough. We've already improved from last year, and we aim to keep improving in every game we play."
