Sauk Centre sweeps golf events

The Bulldogs finally had perfect weather for a conference meet on Tuesday, April 25, at Sauk Centre.

Sauk Centre placed first in the meet with a total of 180. Second place went to Litchfield with a total of 188.

Paynesville once again trailed Cathedral by only one stroke. The Bulldogs finished fifth with a total of 219.

Sally Heitke led the Bulldogs with a 52. Amanda Glenz and Maria Janotta shot 55s, and Erin O'Fallon shot 57.

Albany Meet On Thursday, April 27, the girls traveled to Albany to test their skills on their challenging course. The course is made up of narrow holes with a lot of water that you can't always see.

The girls managed to take fifth in the conference meet, trailing Cathedral by only three strokes. Sauk Centre won the meet again with a total of 177.

Scores counting towards Paynesville's total of 216 were Sally Heitke's 50, Amanda Glenz's 54, Maria Janotta's 55, and Erin O'Fallon's 57.

Paynesville Invitational On Saturday morning, the girls hosted an 18-hole tournament at Koronis Hills. Two cancelations reduced the playing field to three teams.

Sauk Centre had the top three finishers and won the meet with a total of 362. Jackie Beste was the medalist with a round of 80.

The Bulldogs were second with 418, and Litchfield was third with 429.

Coach Todd Knudsvig was pleased that the team recorded several rounds in the 40s. Sally Heitke shot 45, and Maria Janotta and Heather Fuchs shot 48, all on the back.

Over 18 holes, Heitke led the Bulldogs with an even 100. Janotta had 105, Heather Fuchs had 106, and Amanda Glenz had 107 to complete the Paynesville score of 418. Erin O'Fallon shot 114, and Katie Wright shot 116 for the Bulldogs.
