Roscoe tops Richmond 2-0

By Michael Jacobson

The Roscoe Rangers opened their Stearns County League campaign in Richmond with a 2-0 victory over the Royals on Sunday.

Three Roscoe pitchers combined on the shutout: Greg Heinen, Justin Mackedanz, and Brent Heinen. Greg Heinen started and pitched five innings to earn the victory. Mackedanz pitched three innings of shutout relief, and Brent Heinen pitched the ninth to earn a save.

The trio allowed only six hits while walking no one. The Ranger defense played well, too, committing only one error.

The game lasted only two hours and only one bat was broken despite the 40¡ temperature. The Rangers scored a run in the sixth and another in the seventh to earn the victory. They are now 1-0 in the league and 1-1 overall.
