Girls golf in two meets

Girls golf The weather was quite chilly as the Lady Bulldogs headed to Litchfield for their first conference meet of the season.

The girls were a little nervous, as bad weather had interfered with many of their preseason practices.

The Litchfield course was in pretty good shape, despite very fast greens, which are common at the beginning of the season. This caused all the golfers to be cautious when deciding how to approach the greens.

Mary Frandson brought in the low score for the day with a 49. She was closely followed by Lynn Stoneburner, left, with a 52. Maria Janotta and Katie Wright brought in scores of 55 and 56, respectively. Other golfers were Mackenzie Merrill and Angie Jensen.

Scores were higher all around, due to the cold, and to it being the beginning of the season. The Bulldogs are really hoping to improve their standings within the conference.

Albany took the meet with a total score of 189. Jackie Bestse of Sauk Centre was the medalist with the low score of 42.

Cathedral meet
On Thursday, April 22, the girls golf team headed to St. Cloud for their second conference meet. The course to be played was Angushire, a narrow course built between housing developments, highways, and office buildings. Unfortunately, the weather was once again blustery and cold. The wind played a huge factor in this meet as speeds were up to 24 miles per hour.

Again the girls didn't play up to their potential, and spirits were low on the way home.

Lynn Stoneburner had an excellent round, shooting a 46. Mary Frandson was next with a 50, followed by Maria Janotta, 56; and Mackenzie Merrill, 60. Erin O'Fallon also attended this meet.

Sauk Centre took this meet with an overall score of 195. Right on their tail was Albany with 196, who was followed closely by Litchfield with 197.

Jackie Bestse of Sauk Centre and Nikki Danielson of Cathedral had the low score for the day, both shooting a 43.
