Conference foes dominate the Bulldogs

Kelli Heinen The softball team travelled to LPGE for a game on Monday, April 17. This game was rescheduled from April 11. The bulldogs lost 12-2. The game was stopped after the fifth inning due to the ten-run rule.

The Thunder had nine hits in four turns at bat. They also benefitted from four walks and four Paynesville errors. The errors led to five unearned runs for LPGE.

Sophomore Laurie Barten said, "They were they toughest hitting team we've faced so far."

The Bulldogs had only three hits by Tricia Hemmesch, Kelly Loesch, and Jessi Louis. Loesch hit a double in the fourth inning and was able to score on a hit by Hemmesch. Mellody Veldkamp scored the other run for Paynesville.

The softball team hosted BDRSH on Monday night and St. Cloud Cathedral on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs will play at Albany on Thursday at 4:30 p.m., and they will host Litchfield Friday at 4:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs lost 14-4 to Melrose on Tuesday, April 18. The game was stopped in the fifth inning due to the ten-run rule.

Melrose came out strong by scoring eight runs in the first inning. Annie Schmidt sparked the rally by hitting a single when the bases were loaded, which brought in two runs.

The Bulldogs committed three errors, they walked nine opposing batters, and they had six wild pitches.

Tricia Hemmesch, Rachel Miller, Mellody Veldkamp, Laurie Barten, and Jenny Habben had hits for Paynesville. Hemmesch stole two bases and scored two runs. Miller had two RBIs.
