The Roscoe Rangers defeated Orthopedic Sports 7-2 in an exhibition game on Saturday in Roscoe.

The Rangers had two three-run innings: the first and the eighth. In the first inning, Jeff Welle singled, stole second, and scored on Greg Heinen's single. Tony Orbeck reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Mark Winter's double. Winter scored on a double steal for the third run.

In the eighth inning, Robert Leyendecker and Chris VanderBeek reached on bunt singles and scored when Brent Heinen reached by an error. Heinen scored on Lee Schleper's single.

Orthopedic Sports's only runs were scored in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Brian Rolek.

The Rangers' pitching staff allowed only two runs and three hits over nine innings. However, they did walk nine. Brent Heinen pitched three scoreless innings to start the game, Schleper pitched two innings to earn the victory, and VanderBeek and Greg Heinen combined for four scoreless innings to finish the contest.

The Rangers will open their Stearns County League schedule on Sunday when they play at Lake Henry. Starting time is 1:30 p.m. Other Stearns County League games include Richmond at Farming, Elrosa at St. Martin, Meire Grove at New Munich, and Spring Hill at Greenwald.
