Glenz fires 42 for Dogs

The Bulldogs boys' golf team - after two postponements due to the wet, cold spring - finally had their first meet of the season on Thursday, April 19.

The nonconference meet was held in Melrose with four teams competing. The Bulldogs took third, 16 strokes behind the winning team from Sauk Centre and 14 strokes behind Melrose.

The Bulldogs edged Osakis by one stroke, 189-190, for third.

Leading the scoring for the Bulldogs was junior Nathan Glenz with a 42. Eighth grader Mitchell Mackedanz had a 48, senior Corey Schmitt had a 49, and junior Adam Rafferty had a 50 to complete Paynesville's team score of 189. Sophomore Eric Gerding added a 59.

In junior varsity competition, Mark Brossard shot 50, Tony Savage 55, Travis Atkinson 55, and David Jones 56.

The boys' match at Albany on Monday was postponed. No make-up date has been set. The boys were scheduled to host Kimball yesterday.

They also are scheduled to play at Long Prairie on Monday, April 30, and at Melrose on Tuesday, May 1.
