LPGE wins first WCC North meet

The boys' golf team opened their season at the Wapicada Country Club in St. Cloud on Monday, April 15, in a West Central Conference North meet hosted by St. Cloud Cathedral.

The Bulldogs finished seventh, familiar territory for the team in the strong conference. Paynesville, at 199, trailed sixth-place Sauk Centre by seven strokes.

Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, who advanced to state last year, won the first conference meet with a score of 167, edging Litch by two strokes.

Matt Orth of St. Cloud Cathedral was the medalist for the meet with a round of 37.

Senior Nathan Glenz and ninth grader Mitchell Mackedanz led Paynesville with rounds of 45 and 46 respectively. Senior Adam Rafferty added a 53 and junior Eric Gerding added a 55 to complete Paynesville's scoring.

The boys' golf team competed at Albany on Monday. They will play at Melrose on Tuesday, April 30.
