Dogs win twice to remain undefeated

The Bulldogs continued the undefeated start to their season at Sauk Centre on Thursday as they came home with a 10-0 win. This victory lifted the Bulldogs to 3-0 for the season and 2-0 in the West Central Conference North.

The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule. Justin Mackedanz allowed six hits but held the Mainstreeters scoreless.

The Bulldogs jumped ahead with four runs in the first inning. Ben Bork led off the game with a home run.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fourth to make it 9-0 and ended the game with a run in the fifth. The Bulldogs scored in every half inning, adding single runs in the second and third.

Adam Miller went 3-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. Bork, Curtis Christian, Chris Rohe, and Nate Schutz each had two hits apiece.

Coach Brad Skoglund said the team is playing really well and hitting really well. Skoglund was also pleased with the team's defense and pitching.

Against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at home on Tuesday, April 11, Paynesville cruised to a 10-1 victory. Trailing 1-0 after yielding a run in the first inning, the Bulldogs scored themselves in each of the first five innings.

The Bulldogs led 2-1 when they scored three runs in the third, and they added two more in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Ben Bork, Adam Miller, and Scott Braun each had three hits for Paynesville. Bork scored three runs, while Miller had three RBIs and Braun had two.

Doug Fuchs earned his second pitching victory of the year for the Bulldogs. After allowing an unearned run in the first inning, he shut out the Thunder the rest of the way. He struck out eight in seven innings of work.

The Bulldogs' nonconference game against New London-Spicer on Friday was cancelled.
