By Mandy Mayer

The Paynesville tracksters had a great meet on Friday. The weather was gorgeous for the team's first outdoor meet, which they won, beating four teams.

"We had a dominating performance in both the running and field events," said coach Dave Randgaard.

The Bulldogs finished with 12 firsts and eight seconds and had either a first or second in 16 out of 18 events. They scored 166.5 points in all, easily beating second-place Buffalo Lake-Hector, which had 77.5.

Senior Missy Bachman broke her own outdoor school record in the pole vault by vaulting 10' 4". She also won the triple jump.

Ninth grader Kendra Johnson had three first place finishes. She had her personal best in the 110-meter hurdles and in the high jump, and also took part in the winning 400-meter relay.

Eighth grader Tara Schmidt won the 100-meter dash in 13.6.

Paynesville scored 14 points in the 800-meter run. Eighth grader Brooke Schmitz placed first, junior Mandy Mayer was third, and senior Sara Lieser was fourth.

The Dogs' 3,200-meter relay currently has the top time in the area. The team was comprised of seventh grader Kacy Nehowig, Schmitz, Mayer, and senior Jen Hess. Hess also won the 3,200-meter run.

Senior Heidi Jansen won the shot put, and junior Morgan Martinson took second in both the shot put and the discus.
