Local youth compete in state tourney

Nineteen local youth, in grades K-6, competed in the Jaycee State Wrestling Tournament in Long Prairie on Saturday, April 7.

Fifth graders Jordan Christian and Ryan Gale took first place for the Paynesville Wrestling Club.

The 19 members of the club wrestled against competitors from 67 other towns. They had to qualify for state by taking first or second at a regional tournament, held in Willmar, Albany, and Long Prairie this year.

Sixth grade: Cole Kampsen, third.
