The Bulldogs defeated their competition on Saturday evening by nearly 40 points in their first victory of the season. The team competed against six other squads indoors at St. John's University.

Coach Darrel Carstens said, "I'm very proud of our performances. We lost some very good athletes after last year, but the guys are doing great and have a great attitude toward the season."

Top performers included Josh Trees, who had two first place finishes, and Steve Mages, who took second in two events. Trees won the triple jump and the high jump.

In his first year out for track and field, Mages took second in the 55-meter hurdles and in the high jump.

The Bulldogs placed three in the top five in the high jump, with Pat Utsch fifth.

Ryan Whitcomb also had a good night, taking first in the long jump and second in the triple jump.

Nic Glenz won the pole vault competition for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs also placed three in the top eight in all three runs of 800 meters and more. Clayton Lang took second twice behind one of his rivals, Will Enns from LPGE. Lang was the runner-up in the 1600- and the 3200-meter runs. Adam Utsch was fourth and Ryan Flanders sixth in the two-mile run, and Dan Pearson was fourth and Riley Flanders sixth in the mile run.
