Utsch has participated in cheerleading for three years, and Bengtson for two.

Other cheerleading awards, according to coach Sheri Wegner, went to Angie Meyer and managers Lynn Niewind and Mallory Mackedanz for their participation in nearly 40 games, plus practices, competitions, and clinics.

Niewind and Mackedanz were cheerleaders last year and earned "Gold Bar" awards.

Meyer is looking forward to returning as the mascot, "Champ," next year.

The basketball cheerleaders have used money from the booster club, the Jaycees, the Lions Club, and the elementary and high school principal to purchase a new mascot costume.
