Mike Weber helped the wrestling team from New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva to a second place finish in the Class A team competition at the state tournament. The Panthers entered the tournament with a 14-17-4 record, but had battled injuries all year. They fell behind Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale 20-0 in the first round, but rallied to win 34-32. In the semifinals, they beat Minneota 31-29, but they lost to Frazee in the finals Saturday 37-21.
Weber, a 1988 PHS graduate and member of the Bulldogs’ 1987 state championship team, has been an assistant coach at NR-H-E-G for three years.
