Gymnasts finish seventh in section

On Saturday, Feb. 19, the Bulldog gymnastics team traveled to Sauk Rapids for their section meet. The Bulldogs placed seventh in competition with a 119.65.

Starting the night on the vault, the Bulldogs all had nice vaults. Michelle Wolbeck vaulted a 7.8. Kelli Fenske had the best vault for the Bulldogs, earning a score of 8.15.

In the floor competition, Krysta Larson tumbled an 8.0 with a great routine. Earning an 8.2 was Joy Hemmesch. She had some difficult tumbling and did it very well. The total floor score for the Bulldogs was a 30.8.

Next, on the balance beam, the girls didn't all have no-fall routines, which hurt their total score of 28.25. They all had good routines though. Amy Mueller was the top scorer on beam for the Bulldogs. She scored a 7.25.

Finishing on the uneven bars, the girls all had great scores, which led to a great total score of 29.1. Jenni Mayer had a nice routine and scored her personal best with a 7.15. Hemmesch earned a 7.5 with a great routine. Larson had the best score from Paynesville with an 8.0.
